I loved all the food in Maine since before I even moved here - the seafood, the lobster rolls, the food trucks and countless delicious summer hangouts... even the Italians (which I learned soon after arriving here is what Mainers call sub sandwiches with meats, cheeses, and veggies). I have great difficulty eating that last menu item, however - and while cruising Reddit this morning I was relieved to find out I'm not the only one:

Seriously, what is the deal with this?! Don't get me wrong, Maine Italians make delicious lunches... but I have no idea if I'm holding them right. I end up cradling the bottom with one hand and sort of pinching the opposite end with my other, like I'm shoveling a particularly sloppy piece of pizza in my mouth. There's no way you guys stuff the innards of your sandwich deeper and close the bread like a normal sandwich, so how ON EARTH does one manage to consume an Italian with grace? Is it completely hopeless?
