Opening of Anjon’s in Scarborough, Maine, Delayed, but It’s Coming
They closed in 2019 after 65 years, but they're back!
In 2019, Anjon’s co-owner John DiSanto told the Portland Press Herald that increased competition in the area had put the squeeze on them. In 2017, the restaurant had a tough time with unpaid taxes. And on top of that, the family’s patriarch was seriously ill.
If you've ever had the pleasure of Anjon's red sauce on a clear night while watching the sunset over the Scarborough marsh, you know this was truly missed. It was an iconic restaurant and a must for date night.
John DiSanto announced on Facebook in May that they are coming back! Opening up a restaurant is not an easy task. In his Facebook post, John says he's working on a shoestring budget and is looking for help to...
...paint the building, inside and out, new point of sale system, pave parking lot, pots, pans, dishes and glassware etc. etc.anyone willing to help me will get VIP treatment for reservations and seating plus your money back at the end of the summer.
When is Anjon's in Scarborough, Maine, reopening?
John was shooting for Saturday, June 15, but was unable to make that date and is now looking at August. But he's got an amazing support system, including Senator Susan Collins, who sent him a letter congratulating him on coming back.
If you can help John and come to these town council meetings, the quest to get your chicken parm will come even faster!
