Is the Violinist Performing outside the Auburn Walmart Really Playing?

Who doesn't enjoy street performers? As you walk into Walmart to get your groceries done, you hear the sweet sound of strings and immediately feel an inner peace calming your chaotic afternoon.

You approach a young performer at the Auburn Walmart parking lot, struggling to raise money for his family by sharing his art and you donate. It's a heart-warming thing, however, there has been talk online that this is an alleged scam.

He stands towards the front of the lot with an electric violin plugged into a portable amp. A donation cup is attached to the end of the violin and he has propped up a large poster board sign near him saying "I'm struggling with my family, God Bless You." The sign also includes his Venmo and Cash App account usernames.

He plays songs from very popular movies such as Twilight and Titanic and accepts donations as he plays his heart out.

A post from a community group member online said, "There is a guy playing violin in the Walmart parking lot….he is fabulous!!". This post has received 205 likes and 100 comments and 3 shares in the Lewiston Rocks Facebook Group.

There are videos of the Violinist playing at the Auburn Walmart parking lot, posted in the comments on the Facebook group, "Lewiston Rocks,". The debate has been growing with opinion, in the comments.

I myself have watched the footage and because I am not a violin player, I am not in a position to judge.

This post has resulted in fast-growing speculation.

As of right now, many people believe it's him and many believe it isn't.

According to Sand Hills Sentinel, people that have been posing as musicians in North Carolina are using speakers, playing their violins in department and grocery store parking lots scamming others out of money.

This has become a nationwide scam.

There are reports from several different states including New Hampshire, Texas, and Florida all claiming people are pretending to play violins in parking lots.

There are videos of other individuals playing at different store parking lot locations with an electric violin, a speaker, and donation cups, playing similar music.

I do hope this is legitimate because scamming is wrong, not to mention illegal, and there is nothing better than watching a true artist share their craft and earn some extra help.
