Police Announce Suspect in 2023 Maine Murder Mystery
Thanks to the dedication of our law enforcement agencies, Maine rarely sees major crimes go unsolved.
However, over the decades, there have been a few.
A recent double homicide case from Farmington cannot really be considered a 'cold case', but it did take a bit for police to announce the arrest of a suspect. During the 14 months since the killings, police had little to say about the case.
According to an article on the WMTW website, the bodies of 53-year-old Allison "Joy" Cumming, and Jean Robinson, her 76-year-old mother were discovered on December 27th, 2023.
Both ladies lived on the property where their bodies were discovered and Cumming reportedly ran a kennel from a barn on the property.
An autopsy determined that the two had been killed using a sharp object.

On Wednesday, police announced that they believed William Neville Cumming Jr., Robinson's son and Joy Cumming's brother, was responsible for the killings. However, he reportedly took his own life at his Bar Harbor residence on December 31st, 2023.
At the time, police did not believe he was connected to the killings. However, after a lengthy investigation, they have determined that he was the most likely culprit.
