If you can identify with any of these questions, you should plan to attend one of four National Seat Checks this month. Certified Seat Installation Technicians can tell you whether your seats are installed properly and whether they're the correct sizes for your children.

Parents, Grandparents, and Caregivers can choose from one of four days/locations:

  • Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 1 - 4 pm at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
  • Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 2 - 4 pm at the Topsham Fire Department.
  • Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10 am -  2 pm at the Windsor Town Office.
  • Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 1 - 5 pm at the Gorham Fire Department.

Maine Child Safety Seat Technicians Can Help Keep Children Safe

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children. In 2023, an average of two children were killed in crashes every day, and another 345 were hurt in traffic crashes while riding in passenger vehicles.

People who cannot attend one of these screenings can find more information about locating a technician in their area on the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety website.
