Can You Believe That THIS Is Maine’s ‘Most Underrated’ Food?
Our Pine Tree State is known for its food, among many other things, but apparently, one iconic dish is considered Maine’s most underrated.
Maine is famous for its lobster, blueberries, and fiddleheads, but these aren’t the most underrated foods in the state. While we all enjoy these iconic dishes, there’s one food that, far and away, doesn’t get the attention it deserves.
But first, genuinely, what does it mean for something to be considered ‘underrated,’ especially when talking about food?
When we say that a specific food is underrated, we mean that it doesn’t receive the attention or praise it deserves, even though it might be delicious. If you enjoy it and believe it's underrated, you’re highlighting its value because others may not recognize it as much as you do. Essentially, calling something underrated reflects your appreciation for it and suggests that more people should try it.
So, how does one determine what makes a dish ‘underrated,’ and how does one decide which is the most underrated?

So, what is Maine’s most underrated food? We’ve got the answer, and it might surprise you!
According to RENTCafé, the whoopie pie is Maine's most underrated food, often overshadowed by more famous East Coast dishes like New York’s pizza, Massachusetts’ chowder, Pennsylvania’s cheesesteaks, Vermont’s maple syrup, and even Maine’s own lobster.
