You’ll Notice Major Changes to Best Buy Stores in New Hampshire and Maine

The holiday blitz for retailers is finally over, and a new year often brings new ideas for stores. That includes major chains where every square foot of a retail space is dissected to find the best way possible to move forward.

Best Buy is no exception. The fledging chain has seen some ups and downs in recent years, even closing some underperforming stores in 2023. In Maine and New Hampshire, Best Buy stores will continue to operate, but the inside of those stores is about to look a whole lot different.

According to ComicBook.com, Best Buy is phasing out most of the physical media options within its stores. Best Buy was once a haven for physical media, with aisles and aisles of compact discs, DVDs, computer games, and console games.

Back in 2018, Best Buy made the decision to phase out CDs as streaming music began to take hold of consumers' attention. Now, in 2024, Best Buy is implementing the same strategy with DVDs and Blu Ray as they phase physical copies of movies and television shows out of their stores.

The next question is going to become physical copies of video games. The top three consoles in America all offer their games in digital formats that are easily downloadable through the consoles themselves. However, gamers have proven to be a hardcore bunch who still like to own a physical copy versus simply a digital one.

For now, the phasing out at Best Buy is simply DVDs and Blu Ray. According to ComicBook.com, Best Buy will replace the physical media with new tech options for a fast-growing market.
