David Ortiz-Branded Weed Coming to Maine in April
For the most hardcore of Boston Red Sox fans right now, there's nobody that has shined more in their lifetime than David Ortiz. Big Papi helped the 2004 Red Sox break the infamous "curse of the bambino". He then continued to dominate Fenway Park for years, winning two more championships and eventually finding himself in the Baseball Hall of Fame. So what is David Ortiz doing with this retirement? Trying to dominate the recreational marijuana business, of course.
According to the Bangor Daily News, David Ortiz's brand of premium marijuana products will be teaming up with the Maine cannabis company JAR Cannabis Co. for a partnership that starts in April. Papi Cannabis products will be available at JAR locations throughout Maine starting in April.
Similar to when his eyes lit up at fastballs he could crush on the baseball diamond, David Ortiz has been going full throttle with his business ventures since retirement from baseball. Papi Cannabis and his signature "sweet slugger blunts" were developed in a partnership with Massachusetts-based cannabis company Rev. They've been hit in the commonwealth, and Papi Cannabis saw an opportunity to diversify the portfolio.
JAR Cannabis Co. currently operates four shops throughout Maine. They have locations in Portland, South Portland, Windham and Newry near Sunday River. Papi Cannabis "sweet slugger" blunts will range in price from $18 to $50 starting in April.
