Maine's hiking game is on point.

The state is loaded with trails, that offer a variety of skill levels and styles. Cliff walks, mountain strolls, walks in the woods, rail trails and more provide what outdoors enthusiasts truly love a way to get closer to Maine's nature.

One of the best reference guides for hikers is a site called All Trails. It's essentially an online atlas and review guide for every trail in the United States and beyond. I thought it would be fun to take a look and see what Maine's most popular trail was. And to nobody's surprise the state's top spot is right in the heart of Acadia National Park.

The Pine Tree State's golden child is no stranger to being at the top of the charts. The national park is an absolute gem with its amazing hiking, beaches, lakes, and wildlife. It's also home to Maine's favorite hike, the Beehive Trail.

It's no surprise to see the high ranking for this challenging hike. Not only is the trail beautiful, but it's also unique. It has numerous features, rungs, ladders, and tough cliff climbs, with a panoramic landscape that is true Maine perfection.

Don't just take my word for it, here are a few reviews I found from All Trails about why Beehive is so special.

From Alexa Plisiewicz

Super fun hike with some non-technical climbing involved. The views on this trail are truly out of this world. Definitely some of the best in Acadia.

From Adam Frietag

Great hike and the view is definitely worth it from the very top! If you have a fear of heights or don’t have good balance, this may not be the hike for you- there are rungs to climb, narrow paths, and some slippery rocks. Great hike!

All Trails lists the Beehive Trail difficulty as "hard." However, even with its challenging reputation, the trail has a rating of 4.9 out of 5. It features views of Maine's coast, islands, and Acadia's Sand Beach. It's also known as a great trail for birding.

The Beehive Trail is rated just above Jordan Pond Path, Gorham Mountain Loop, Ocean Path Trail, and Cadillac North Ridge Trail. Yes, all of those are in Acadia as well. It's almost like tourists have stuffed the All Trails ballot box. Or it might be the fact that Acadia is quite a special place.

Happy Hiking.
