New Market Basket in Scarborough, Maine, to Open in November

Nearly two full years of planning and building are about to come to fruition as the latest Market Basket location in Maine is a couple of months away from a grand opening.

Back in November of 2024, it was announced that Market Basket would continue its expansion into Maine by joining the burgeoning Downs development on the site of the old Scarborough Downs racetrack.

Market Basket already operates three other stores in Maine. Those stores are located in Biddeford, Topsham and Westbrook.

Shared on social media by The Downs, Market Basket will officially open their doors to customers in Scarborough, Maine, this November.

Timelines about the opening had been vague for more than a year, simply stating Market Basket would open in the fall.

Market Basket is expected to announce a firm date once they complete hiring and training a full staff for the new Scarborough store.

Several Other New Businesses Joining Market Basket in Scarborough, Maine

While the excitement continues to build for the grand opening of a new Market Basket in Scarborough, Maine, there will be a few other businesses also opening soon as part of The Downs development.

That will include the popular Cafe Luna, which plans to move from their current location to a new upgraded spot inside the Downs development.

A couple of wellness businesses are also opening at the Downs. They include Life Stance Health, which focus on mental health as well as Maine Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center which focuses on oral health.
