Jersey Mike’s Finally Set to Open New Location in Saco, Maine
For nearly two years, residents of Saco and Biddeford have been teased with the notion of a new Jersey Mike's location arriving along Route One. After a longtime Pizza Hut location at 507 Main Street went out of business, it was announced the building would be torn down and replaced with a new mini mall. That mall would include the area's first Chipotle and Jersey Mike's locations.
According to Saco Bay News, the conclusion of that project is finally about to be realized. Jersey Mike's has announced a tentative grand opening date of Wednesday, July 12. Similar to other grand openings, Jersey Mike's will hold an event and pair with a charity to celebrate. The timing falls in line with the burst of tourism the area sees each summer. The Chipotle location next door to Jersey Mike's opened earlier this year.
The sandwich chain burst onto the scene last year by opening three locations in Scarborough, Windham, and Brunswick. Jersey Mike's has continued their aggressive plan in Maine by opening in Auburn, Bangor, Topsham, Portland/Westbrook, and now in Saco. There's still a pair of openings in Falmouth and Thomaston planned for 2023. From there, Jersey Mike's has no other new restaurants listed for Maine in their 'coming soon' section.
This busy stretch of Route One in Saco continues to see changes. Several restaurants have opened along the corridor this year including the new Boomers, which has taken over the space that once housed the Kerrymen Pub.
