The new Target will be open for Black Friday!

This is where the old Kmart lived for years at 603 Center Street in Auburn. It took almost two years and almost 10 million dollars to renovate the store, but it's almost ready!

This will be the sixth Target to open in Maine joining Augusta, Bangor, Biddeford, South Portland, and Topsham. The Sun Journal was able to confirm that there will be a CVS pharmacy inside and of course a Starbucks Cafe. But that's all we know.

Well, that's not all we know. We know that Target is one of those stores you go into for one thing and leave with 25 other things you had no intention of buying.

Target has been around for a while, and there are currently 1,938 stores across the country with California having the most Targets. They have 309 stores.

That was my first introduction to Target when I lived in California back in the 80s. I figured that's when they must have started, the 80s. Where I grew up in Idaho we didn't have any Target stores.

Nope. Target has been around for 120 years with the first in Minneapolis back in 1902! Holy crap! Maine is new to the Target game. The first Maine store was the South Portland location and which opened 21 years ago in 2001.

Get ready Maine, we love a new opening! We love us a Target and we love waiting in long lines for a bargain on Black Friday. It's always nice to celebrate an opening and not a closing. Welcome to Auburn Target!
