Maine NH Skiing

While there's not going to be a deep diving of actual statistics to track exactly how many New Englanders/New England natives (more specifically, the northern New Englanders) are skiers and/or snowboarders, it's a safe bet to assume that probably at least 75% are.

For other New England natives -- even those that have spent most of or their entire lives in some New England state -- it just hasn't been a winter season passion. Maybe they tried once or twice, struggled, and just felt like it was never for them.

Maybe they never even tried at all for whatever reason -- fear, no interest, something somewhere in between.

And while any New Englander may appreciate this Kennebunkport, Maine, restaurant that is about to be featured, it may be appreciated a little bit more by New England's non-skiers and boarders, because it's a chance for them to get the top-of-the-mountain feel, without actually having to be on a mountain top.

Ski Gondola Dining

While most ski mountains both in and out of New England will transport skiers and boarders to the top of the mountain to shred down on a ski lift chair, there are others that transport people to the top inside of a gondola.

And if not transporting to the top of the mountain for skiing or boarding down in a gondola, some mountains simply have gondolas to provide sightseeing tours/rides.

A restaurant at the Kennebunkport Inn in Kennebunkport took the gondola idea, combined it with the "bubble/igloo" outside dining idea that was thought up during the pandemic, and now offering a unique dining experience inside of a ski gondola.

But very much on the ground.
