Peter Geiger is a Lewiston native who wants to see his city smile.

Peter Geiger is a man of many faces. You may know him as the editor of the Farmers' Almanac. As he likes to point out, it's the orange and green one.

But for many of you, he's the guy who goes nuts for Halloween, handing out king-sized candy bars.

This is the display he had last year. This year, he has gone even bigger with 6,500 candy bars! No, not just candy bars, KING-SIZED candy bars!

And if you know the password, you can walk away with three!

Is it true that Peter doesn't eat candy?

Peter loves candy and candy bars, but gave it all up for Lent about 40 years ago. He says that serving thousands of giant candy bars to kids does not even tempt him. He's a giver, not an eater.

Peter is such a great guy. He loves, loves, loves Lewiston, and is more excited about Halloween this year than any other. Why? Because he feels a duty and honor to bring the city a little happiness.

He told me,

...unless there is a lockdown, I am going to provide some smiles, laughs, and sugar highs. I didn’t want the shooter to continue to kill our joy and normalcy. I think this year is more important than ever. I actually bought an additional 250 candy bars this morning – up to 6,500 now.

We are all hurting in Lewiston. The clerk at the candy store told me she lost her uncle.

Where is this fantastic Halloween candy extravaganza?

It's at Geiger (duh) at 70 Mt. Hope Avenue in Lewiston (don't go to the Geiger school, it's a rookie mistake). It starts at 4:30 pm and ends at 8:30 pm. Because of the giant parking lot, lines are minimal, and there is hardly a wait. He can't wait to see you, and look for a witch that might look a little familiar!
