Going to Lisa’s Pizza in OOB in the Maine Winter, Just Got Warmer
If you've never had Lisa's Pizza in Old Orchard Beach, you are missing out.
They've been right in the heart of OOB since 1974 and are now open year-round except for a Christmas break.
Winters are cold and that makes getting pizza at a takeout window chilly to say the least. That is until now.
50 Years of Lisa's Pizza
Lisa’s Pizza was initially opened in 1972 as a hot dog and french fry stand on the main strip of Old Orchard Beach near the pier and Palace Playland. Turns out that more customers were interested in pizza so in 1974, pizza was added to the menu and Lisa's Pizza was born.
Besides the pizza, they also have french fries that are delicious when covered with vinegar., and they have fried dough. Lisa's Pizza almost makes you feel like you're at the fair with all these delicious foods.
Open During The Winter
Lisa's Pizza has been open in the winter before, as you can see in this Facebook post from early 2024 announcing they would be open in February. If you're waiting at the pickup window in the winter, that wind off the ocean can make it very cold.
So to keep the wind and cold out while you're at the windows, they have added a seasonal shelter with windows and a door, shielding customers from the elements. You've gotta love this upgrade if you're a Lisa's Pizza fan.
So go grab some pizza during those cold days without worry. In case you've never been, Lisa's Pizza is at 17 Old Orchard Street, right next to Palace Playland.
