The Maine Wildlife Park in Gray announced today that Maggie, the Moose rescued last summer after her mother had abandoned her, has died.

You may remember that Maggie was found by a family at six days old having been abandoned by her mother. She became friends with the family dog and they played in the yard together becoming a viral sensation.

She was later taken to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray to be cared for where she lived a happy life for the next year.

Unfortunately on Thursday morning, staff at the Wildlife Park found Maggie dead in her enclosure having later discovered she died of a ruptured brain aneurysm.

After the video of her playing with the dog went viral, the Maine Wildlife Park saw a spike in visitors coming to see Maggie, a clear sign that she touched lives not here in Maine but all over the world.
