Maine Beats Out Miami & Phoenix With the First 90° Scorcher of 2018
Yeah... it really was THAT warm! Maine was one of the warmest places in the US on Wednesday, beating out Miami and Phoenix by several degrees.
Liam Nee from NewsCenterMaine tweeted out the temperature differences, and they weren't small ones. Portland, at 88 degrees, beat out Miami by 9 degrees and Phoenix by 17 degrees. Bangor was close with a high today of 86.
The National Weather Service reported Wednesday night that Portland's high was 90, beating out Phoenix by 15 degrees. Our normal temperature for early May is around 60 degrees.
Wednesday wasn't the earliest day in the year that it got this hot, however. The National Weather Service reported Wednesday that the earliest in the year that it hit 90+ was in 2009, when it hit 92 degrees on April 28th.
