Maine Community to Benefit Greatly From Maine Teen Cancer Survivor’s Selfless Act

You know what never gets old? Stories of selfless acts. Thankfully, we never seem to be at a loss for them here in the great state of Maine.

Here's another one that might just take the cake in this incredible category. It's about a Maine cancer survivor who used her Make-A-Wish in a most generous way.

WGME has the story of Alexis Michaud of Manchester. The 17-year-old is not just a cancer survivor, but one heck of a standup human being.

According to WGME, Michaud decided to do something very unique and special with her Make-A-Wish. The high schooler wanted to renovate her high school's softball field.

This incredible act of generosity was recently unveiled at Maranacook High School, where Michaud goes to school and plays softball.

According to WGME, Make-A-Wish Maine upgraded many things around the park, including the dugouts and scoreboard. The organization also supplied new uniforms and bags for all the players on the team. WGME also reported that a few local companies helped out with Make-A-Wish Maine with the improvements, which should surprise no one. This state is so full of wonderful business that are willing to lend a hand to the community on a moment's notice. It helps make Maine the special place that it is.

First off, congrats to Michaud for kicking cancer's ass. I'm not sure there's anything more frightening than a youngster who has to battle something so heinous. Growing up is hard enough. I can't even imagine what it would be like facing cancer on top of everything else.

Secondly, this girl rocks. The selflessness to put your friends, classmates, and community above all is truly inspiring. It also speaks so much to her character.

The future is undoubtedly bright for Michaud. I'm sure there will be plenty of Maranacook Softball team fans this season.
