Thankfully, Maine has a ton of fairs across the state with a number of them over 100 years old. Talk about legacy.

Of course, with 2025 finally here, it's time to start checking your calendar and marking off the days, and we've got a fair schedule list for you to scroll through.

What is the fair schedule for Maine?

Most of the fairs typically happen around the same time every year, with the first happening in June and the last one kicking off in September.

There are 25 fairs you can choose from, according to the Maine Association of Agricultural Fairs.

Take a look at the list to see when your favorite fair is happening. Just note that while a majority of the fairs have announced their dates, there are some that are still to be officially announced.

What is the largest fair in Maine?

Turns out, the last fair to take place in Maine for 2025 is also the largest fair.

According to the Fryeburg Fair's website, the Fryeburg Fair is "Maine's largest agricultural fair second in New England in size only to Eastern States in Massachusetts."

The fair website states that the event takes place on 185 acres with over 100 buildings.

So make sure you've got your walking shoes on to take it all in.

What is the oldest fair in Maine?

On the other hand, the Skowhegan Fair takes the prize for the oldest fair in Maine.

The Skowhegan Fair website highlights that the first version of this particular event was all the way back in 1819. That's 200+ years old.

And to think that it started with, according to the website, people coming out for harness horse racing, the pulling of draft horses and oxen, some "games of skill and chance," and checking out dancing girls at what was known as "Hoochy-Koochy Shows."
