I know, that sounds so dramatic, but I mean it, there are absolutely some foods or drinks I can't live without. I'm the type that values a good routine and then I'll hyper focus on it.

So if I ever had to re-calibrate my plans away from my favorite activity of going to Dunkin' and people watching in my jeep, I'd be thrown off my game so hard.

This is how I landed here on this topic so let's see if you'll agree with me. Here's 4 iconic foods Maine is known for that I wouldn't be happy to live without.

Wild Maine Blueberries

I will take this to my grave, Maine has the biggest, juiciest, crisp-ish (?) blueberries on the market with no competition.

The state is home to the blueberry barrens up north and is an incredible sight to see if you ever find yourself looking for an adventure. Here's the last time I went a few months ago.

Fresh Maine Lobster

This one may sound like a given since the entire universe immediately sees a lobster in their head once you tell them you're from Maine. They're correct though, there is nothing quite like fresh lobster from the coast of Maine.

I only remember how good we have it living here with the bugs when I'm in a different state and try to order it.

You can taste the difference if the lil red dudes aren't from here and only Mainers will understand that without having to explain it.

Maine Fiddleheads

I admittedly regret that I did not take advantage of being able to go out into my backyard (that's all woods, come on it's Maine), and collect these little green swirly guys. They're chef's kiss when they're oven-roasted with butter.

Game Meat

Okay this one is going to divide us. I'll say this ahead of time, I will only eat game meat if it was already being prepared. However, Mainers wait all year to hunt a moose, bear, or bird to skin themselves and eat.

What is game meat?

Think hunters meat. It's the flesh of any wild animal or bird that you can skin and eat.

"it can’t be bought or sold — only shot, bartered, or freely given. My preference is to barter for it, since inevitably, both parties come out of the exchange feeling like they’ve won. Hunters tend to accumulate a lot of meat in their freezers, and they’re usually happy to swap some for whiskey." - downeast.com

Overall, Maine is a very routine state. Locals know exactly what they're going to eat during each season and it's hilarious to me. I love this quirky state.
