A 27-year-old mother from Acton was charged with abandonment after leaving her 17-month-old son in a shopping cart at a Target in Easton, Mass.

According to NewCenter Maine, it was an accident:

The mother was shopping with three friends and told police she thought one of her friends had put her son in his rear-facing car seat. She drove to Plymouth, around 30 miles away, while her friends left in another car, and she told police she did not notice the absence of her son until she arrived in Plymouth.

Seriously? Good news, the boy is fine and someone found him and stayed with him until police arrived.

How could this happen? 30 miles and not realize that your baby is missing from your car? Wouldn't you wonder why he was so quiet...not one sound? Police are not releasing her name...
