Who doesn't love to be the record holder of something?  Even more so, who doesn't want to be a part of an event that leads to winning a WORLD Record?

Mainers love to break records, and to be a part of something bigger, and that's precisely what happened on Long Lake in northern Maine over the past weekend.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Maine is officially the world record holder of the biggest ice carousel, again. Yep, that's right, Maine has taken back the title of the world's biggest ice carousel from Finland. Finland captured Minnesota's record in early February of 2021 with an Ice Carousel measuring a little more than 1,000 feet in diameter.

On Friday, hundreds of spectators and volunteers drilled holes and came together as a community to make the largest Ice Carousel in the world. And, on Saturday, they had officially done it. Maine broke the record by 234ft in diameter, making it 1234ft in diameter and 27 acres in size.

Congratulations, Maine!
