Maine State Trooper Pulls Over to Assist a Motorist Who Happened to Be an NFL Tight End
A Maine State Trooper saw a car on the side of I-95 in Old Town and pulled over and recognized the driver as a former player for the New England Patriots.
When Recruit Kyle Russell and Trooper Steve Morrell pulled up behind the vehicle, the driver had just finished changing his flat tire and was set to head on his way when they realized he was tight end and Maine native Matt Mulligan. He was nice enough to pose for a picture with the troopers.
Matt is from West Enfield, probably where he was headed home to when he got the flat. He played football at Penobscot Valley High School and at the University of Maine before being signed as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins in 2008. He went on to play for several teams, including the New England Patriots in 2013 and most recently with the Detroit Lions this past NFL season. He's currently a free agent.
