Here's a rarity for you. An albino porcupine was caught on video in Buxton.

The video of the albino porcupine comes from Joseph Libby. He told the news station that he shot the video on Monday.

The video is clear as day. The albino porcupine is just hanging out on the branch of tree, seemingly without a care in the world. The cute critter isn't exactly showing any concern for Libby's proximity.

It's quite the rare find for Libby. It's not like albino porcupines aren't just falling out of trees. According to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, there's about a 1 and 10,000 chance of a porcupine being born albino. So, the likelihood of ever seeing one is pretty tiny. This makes it quite the chance encounter for Libby.

On a side note, I have lived in Buxton the past seven years and have seen exactly zero cool animals. All I have are turkey's that destroy the yard and deer who eat every plant. And here's my man, Joseph getting up close and personal with an albino porcupine. A very lucky guy indeed.

How wonderfully lucky we are to have a chance to see wildlife enigmas. The world is full of perfectly imperfect creatures. The more we can witness and learn from them, the more we may be able to understand our ecosystem.
