Necco to Close if No Buyer – No More Wafers or Candy Hearts!

The maker of Necco Wafers, Clark bars and those candy hearts with cute sayings like 'fax me', could close up shop and lay off 400.

In order to stay open, they need a buyer.  Necco, stands for New England Confectionary Co. For some reason, I never made that connection. Duh! They've been around since 1847. The oldest operating candy company.

If they can't find a buyer by May 6th, the company in Revere, MA will close it's doors. If that happens, you can say goodbye to:

• Sweethearts
• Clark bars
• Necco wafers (sorry Jeff)
• Mary Janes (I still have some stuck in my teeth from when I was a kid)
