If you loved a bloomin' onion, you'll have to go outside of New Hampshire to find one from 'down under'.

According to Seacoast Online, the Outback Steakhouse in Seabrook, New Hampshire, was one of dozens of locations in the US that shut down. The decision came from the chain's parent company, who wanted 36 restaurants across the United States permanently shut down.

Recently U-Haul trucks were outside the restaurant on Route 1, moving everything out. The recording on the phone said that the restaurant was permanently closed ,and that you should go to the Outback website to find places that were still open. There are no Outback Steakhouses in Maine and now New Hampshire. They are still in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey.

Elizabeth Daly, director of media and community relations for Bloomin’ Brands, Inc., told Seacoast Online,

This was a business decision that is not a reflection of the management or staff. We appreciate the community’s support over the past 8 years and hope to see you at our Peabody restaurant.

This was a complete business decision and a bottom-line call. Investors said that they decided to close 36 older and underperforming restaurants. All 36 restaurants were going to close before the end of March. But with the news that 36 restaurants are closing, they also announced 40-45 new restaurants.

There was very little notice given to employees of Seabrook’s Outback. Many people have been concerned about what will happen to the employees who lost their jobs. They were given a chance to transfer to another restaurant or receive a severance package.
