New and Very Large Convenience Store Now Open in Portland, Maine

In April 2022, this swath of land on Forest Avenue across from the former Tortilla Flats Mexican Restaurant was cleared.

A month later construction on the land began

And we learned that a new convenience store called the "Queen Bee Food Mart" would be opening there in the fall.

It took through the fall to complete, but the Queen Bee Food Mart is now open and it's huge!

The store itself is rather large, but take a look at the size of the parking lot. You won't have any trouble finding a place to park here.

There are eight pumps with lots of space between cars so you won't be opening your door into someone's car who has the gas tank on the other side.

Inside there's everything you could ever want in a convenience store, including fried chicken!

If you're looking for food on the go, there are muffins, sandwiches, slurpies and smoothies.

And pizza too. I'm sure they have more than just cheese. I'll take a pepperoni.

Queen Bee Food Mart is at 1884 Forest Avenue in Portland, just east of the intersection of Riverside Street and Forest Avenue. I'm not sure of their hours as I can't seem to find any on their Facebook page, but when I drive by at 4:30 in the morning on my way to work, the lights are off. I imagine they open not too long after that to be there for the morning commute.
