New Hampshire’s Favorite Ice Cream Flavor Seems All Too Basic
It seems that ice cream has been the talk of the town lately.
A while back, we shared this awesome itinerary for a road trip that will take you to some of New Hampshire's many fantastic ice cream shops. Meanwhile, Yelp released a list of the top 100 ice cream shops in the nation, several of which are in New England. Now, a delivery company called Instacart has shared their verdict on each state's favorite ice cream flavor, but the results for New Hampshire – and New England as a whole – will leave you scratching your head.
Instacart conducted their research by analyzing purchase data to see "which ice cream flavor each state buys the most compared to the national average," and the result was surprisingly...boring.
Apparently, chocolate is New Hampshire's favorite ice cream flavor, and folks in Maine, Vermont, and Connecticut share the same sentiment. Massachusetts and Rhode Island are the odd ones out, with their top choice being coffee.
Look. Nothing's wrong with chocolate ice cream. But here's the thing. We New Englanders have a history of taking ice cream to a whole other level, not only in terms of quality, but flavor creativity. We are the birthplace of the famous Ben and Jerry's, after all.
So, you'd think that New Hampshire's favorite ice cream flavor would be something a bit more New England-centric, or at least something less basic than chocolate. Where's the moose tracks or maple walnut? How about one of Ben and Jerry's unique flavors like Chunky Monkey or Cherry Garcia? It's perplexing, to say the least.
What do you think? Should we rally behind a different ice cream flavor? If so, which one?
