In my opinion, Smackz is the freshest name for a new restaurant! We are now happy to welcome Lewiston's newest restaurant, Smackz, located at 124 Bartlett Street.

I was able to chat with the new owner of this delicious spot and other than making my mouth water, he inspired me as well. His name is Vinny Despradel, Owner of Smackz and he started this journey with his girlfriend.

They started serving homemade food to their friends and it quickly grew into a passion and a business idea. They wanted to ultimately serve the L/A community.

Vinny told me he has worked for many years off and on in the food industry, cooking and always saying to himself,

One day, I will open my own.

Vinny

Vinny moved to Lewiston from Washington Heights, NYC with his family in 2006. He has witnessed the city become more diverse culturally over the years. He told me,

I felt that our places to eat hadn’t embraced this change.

Vinny

He shared with me that his father, Julio Despradel approached him and expressed his desire to share his culture with Lewiston Auburn through his cooking. Julio, who is of Dominican decent has a passion for cooking and feeding those he loves.

Because of that, Vinny and his family decided to take the leap and open up Smakz. This hot new spot serves real Caribbean and soul food at reasonable prices. They will be feeding you directly from the heart of Lewiston.

We want Smackz to be a place where all can feel at home and welcomed with food that does the soul and the body good! Simply Smackable!

Vinny, Owner Smackz

This is what family and food is all about, sharing to those who appreciate what you've done. With hard work, love for culture, family, and food, there is no doubt that Vinny and Smackz will not only become successful, but a staple in our community.
