There's an old gas station on Forest Avenue that had the pumps removed and instead of filling tanks, it is filling glasses at a new pizza, bar & grill.

The station has been on Forest Avenue for as long as I can remember, all the way back to the days when someone pumped your gas for you, cleaned your windshield, and could even take your car into their garage for a tune-up or a tire rotation.

When full-service gas stations became a relic of the past the station converted into a convenience store.

The store lasted until 2016 when it was put up for sale, but laid dormant for several years until it was bought and renovated in late 2022 into Riverton Station Pizza Bar & Grill. They kept the old gas station sign for their own use.

The name "Riverton Station" has a couple of meanings here, the obvious one being that it used to be a gas station. The not-so-obvious meaning can be figured out by the trolley car in their logo.

The site of Riverton Trolley Park is just down the road from Riverton Station and was the home of the original Riverton Station where from 1896 to 1920, people could pay just five cents to take the trolley from Monument Square to the park. Today it's a mostly wooded area, but you can still see a few remnants of the park while walking through the site.

The station has had a major facelift and has a beautiful looking bar inside.
