One of Portland, Maine’s Most Generous Nonprofit Is Expanding, and There Are Ways for You to Get Involved
Maine Needs, a local nonprofit organization run entirely by volunteers, has done so much good for our community they are overflowing with the outpour of donations! The organization has grown out of its space and is officially expanding.
As a source for meeting basic needs for those in the community, the organization provides donated materials such as clothing, household items, hygiene products, and numerous other necessities for families and individuals in need.
Located at 322 Forest Avenue in Portland, Maine Needs will remain at this location and thanks to serendipitous events and monetary donations, will be renting out the space right behind their current spot.
Just since November, the nonprofit has fulfilled 100,000+ items for those facing hardships in our community!
This expansion will allow room for more donations (just in time for bulky winter gear!) and will offer a space for kit-making gatherings.
Interested in getting involved? Signing up to volunteer couldn’t be easier. Just simply fill out this form and choose your shift! They also post daily on Instagram about what they’re looking for, whether it’s volunteer shifts or specific donation items they’re in need of.
Before you go do a lazy Goodwill drop-off, check in with their Instagram page and see if you have what’s in demand!
Thank you for everything you do, Maine Needs. And thank you to all of the volunteers!
