Really. New Final Opening Date for Anjons in Scarborough, Maine
Opening a business can be tricky, and delays can mess up an opening date. That's the case for Anjon's in Scarborough, Maine.
In case you are wondering, yes - Anjon's is coming back! John DiSanto has been working for months to reopen the famous Italian restaurant across from the Scarborough Marsh.
They closed in 2019 after 65 years, and they are back...well, almost back.
In 2019, Anjon’s co-owner John DiSanto told the Portland Press Herald that increased competition in the area had put the squeeze on them. Plus, in 2017, the restaurant had a tough time with unpaid taxes. And on top of that, the family’s patriarch was seriously ill. But John decided it was time to bring the classic back!
What's the hold up with Anjon's in Scarborough, Maine reopening?
John says on his Facebook page that they had to delay the grand reopening because of final approval for the liquor license, and final inspection from Scarborough for fire and electric. They are also still hiring, a sticking point for many businesses.
