Have you ever noticed those hoses sticking out of the roof of the canopy at gas stations? They're there for a good reason and people pumping gas at Cumberland Farms on Center Street in Auburn learned what they're for the hard way....twice.

According to the Sun Journal, in the span of a little less than two weeks the fire suppressant system at Cumby's has gone off twice when there was no fire. It covered customers and cars in a fine white powder designed to put out a fire, if there was one.

Nicole Marie shared these pictures of the mess it left.

There were some minor injuries in the latest malfunction on Tuesday as customers scrambled to get out of the way of the powder, including one woman who had some trouble breathing, but everyone is okay.

The fire department showed up and hosed off cars that had been covered in the powder, but the entire pump area looked like it had just seen a fresh dusting of snow.
