Pizza Hut reportedly plans to close 500+ older stores in the U.S. in the next two years. This is sad news for those of us who remember meeting friends and family at our neighborhood Hut when we were kids. Memories were made with our young bellies full of stuffed-crust pizza and Mountain Dew. Going forward, the iconic chain plans to focus on takeout and delivery, according to MSN Money. The plan is to "modernize and strengthen the long-term forecast for one of America’s biggest pizza chains," according to Food Business News via MSN.

How will this affect New England? Out of the approximate 7,500 restaurants nationwide, there are 128 in New England -- 21 in Maine, 19 in New Hampshire, and 50 in Massachusetts as per Pizza Hut's official website. Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island only have 38 stores between the three states. MSN was told the "older and under-performing" dine-in locations are the ones at risk of closing. However, there’s no official list as of yet. We'll keep you posted.
