Apparently, it used to be quite the common occurrence, according to an r/Maine Redditor who found this collection of locally branded yardsticks in the old house he just purchased.

Among the collection are Portland-based businesses Sulkowitch Hardware & Paint, The Seaside Shop, and Randall & McAllister Automatic Heating Equipment.
