Scarborough Police Call The Most Polite Central Maine Power Scammers Ever [LISTEN]

You've probably heard of the phone scams in Maine where callers claim to be from CMP and threaten to disconnect customers if they don't pay them immediately. The Scarborough police recently called one of the scammers back and recorded the conversation with one of the nicest scammers you'll ever hear. 

A woman answers the phone announcing that this is the CMP Billing and Disconnection Department and when the officer identifies himself she very politely says "Oh hi there sir. How's it going hello Mr. Police Officer."

The woman goes on to admit that she is operating a scam, says she won't stop, and wishes the office a Merry Christmas.

Remember, CMP will never call you to force you to pay by credit card or be disconnected and no line is safe to touch. Evah.
