Have you ever met with someone for whatever reason and wanted to make sure you would be safe? The Scarborough Police Department can now help you.

In a Facebook post, The Scarborough Police Department announced that the Public Safety building on Westwood Avenue now has a safe zone that is staffed and monitored 24 hours a day by camera. If you need to exchange custody of your children, are meeting someone to pay for an online transaction or any other meeting with someone that you would like to have monitored for your safety, the parking lot of the police station is the place to do so.

To use the public service, just walk into the lobby and let a dispatcher know that you are there to meet someone in the safe zone. They'll make sure they monitor your meeting so that you have piece of mind.

More and more police departments are offering this service. It can be a scary world, but it's great to know that the men and women in uniform are looking out for you.
