Thanks to Florida We No Longer Have to Wear Masks at the Portland Jetport
Masks are now optional at the Portland Jetport and some major airlines.
And it all started with Florida. According to WMTW, earlier this week a federal judge in Florida said, NOPE to the national mask mandate on airplanes and mass transit. That set off a chain reaction of airlines, airports (and jetports), and mass transit systems to make their own decision on masks. The Jetport has said you don't have to wear them. Obviously, if you are more comfortable with a mask on, you can wear one.
What's crazy is that a family that left for April school vacation with masks on, may not have to wear them on the trip home! Some major airlines immediately jumped on the no-mask bandwagon. Delta and United dropped the requirements effective immediately.
But, despite the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) saying they would no longer enforce a mask requirement, you might still have to wear a mask for some flights that are international. Your best bet is to check with your airline and airport. As we have all come to know, information changes quickly. But for now, you just got a little more breathing room if your travels take you through Portland's Jetport.
It's nice to not have to pretend to be sipping a diet coke for 3 hours.
SIDENOTE: Is it only me who still to this day has mask anxiety? I feel like sometimes I'm in a lose/lose and judged if I'm wearing one or not. If I'm not are people asking themselves, 'Is she really vaccinated or just one of those anti-maskers?' Or if I do wear one, are they saying, 'Ugh. Another dummy who refused to get vaccinated!' Just a thought and I could be way overthinking it...
