The Best Times to Travel Throughout New England on Memorial Day Weekend
Everyone needs to get somewhere this holiday weekend, am I right? Whether it's work, visiting family and friends or a vacation to kick off the 'Unofficial start to the Summer of 2019', here are the best times to hit the road and avoid traffic jams.
According to Triple A (AAA) the worst time to be on New England area roadways will be Memorial day itself, Monday, May 27th. The highest volume of traffic is expected in the late afternoon and will last through that evening. In some spots, you might see your travel times double or even triple!
In their press release, AAA says nationally, it's estimated that some 43 million people are expected to travel during the holiday weekend: That number includes travelling by car, plane, trains, buses and cruise ships.
As we see every year, the delays begin the Wednesday before the long holiday weekend as people try to sneak in as much time off from work as they can! The good news is that many, if not all road work crews will pack up the traffic cones and construction equipment for the holiday weekend.
As they say in the traffic reporting business...'Pack Your Patience!' Happy commuting!
