According to Fox News, Jim Koch and his band of merry men and women at Samuel Adams have created a real monster of a beer.

Utopias is so strong that it's banned in 15 states.

This scary brew is an extreme beer that results from a multi-year brewing process. It's also a Frankenstein beer, concocted from a blend of earlier Sam Adams' extreme beers, some of which were aged in wooden bourbon casks.

The Utopias beers are legendary and definitely on the bucket list of every beer connoisseur. Though few may be able to afford it.

Only 77 casks were brewed and the laws of supply and demand are in effect, according to the news station. You might be lucky enough to find it in a retail store for about $200, but you are more likely to find someone reselling it for $500 a bottle online.

Let's get to why it has been banned in:

Alabama

Idaho

Georgia

Montana

Missouri

Mississippi, ooh it was fun spelling that

Oklahoma

Oregon

Vermont

South Carolina

Utah

North Carolina

Arkansas

New Hampshire

You'll notice that Maine is NOT on the list. Drink 'em if you've got 'em.

These states are frightened by Utopias's whopping ABV of 20 percent. ABV is alcohol by volume and the average beer is about 5 to 6 percent. Utopias is a sipping beer.

Here is the man, the myth, the legend, Jim Koch, to explain his extreme beer.
