A TikToker whose channel goes by the name of @shiddyplaces. That's the clean version of the word that you no doubt know, so this might be some NSFW for some people, but I doubt many. You've been warned.

The guy behind these clever videos uses Google Earth to search for photos and Google Street views by randomly clicking on places in each of the 50 states. Google Earth comes with a mode that will show you places that you can click which causes it to zoom in and show you what is there in a 360-degree view.

Some of the photos in areas not reachable by car are taken by people also using the 360 mode in the smartphone or camera.

It's a little like a game, where the TikToker keeps clicking until he sees a place on Google Earth in the state that he thinks is... um... unpleasant? You get the idea.

When he got to Maine, he had a bit of a struggle trying to find something that was not great. He ended up clicking ten times seeing photos of the abandoned steam locomotives in northern Maine, various lakes and rivers, a viewing platform looking out over the Maine woods, and rural roads with fall foliage.

It wasn't until he clicked on a photo of a rural road with a railroad boxcar that looked abandoned that he deemed it "shiddy."

It just goes to show that it's not easy to find a place that is not picture-perfect in Maine. Of course, it has them, but the not "shiddy" places far outweigh the "shiddy" ones.

It also makes me curious which state bombed for him. He still hasn't gotten through all the states yet, so we'll see.
