Portland, Maine, Mystery: Daily Trash Bag Left in Front of My Car—Who’s Behind This & Why?
This is a PSA I feel like I shouldn't have to write, but here we are! 2024 is a wild place. In fact, the world has been a wild place since about 2019, so maybe this is on me for being upset by people still doing stupid things.
So, outside of my apartment complex, we each have an assigned parking spot (which I love). Everyone also has their own dumpster in my building, which is pretty cool, because we never have to worry about trash piling up outside. This is a key component in this story.
Over the last three months, somebody has put a bag of trash outside on the road next to my car almost every other day, as if they're too lazy to throw it in the dumpster. It's like this idiot just can't be bothered to go the last 10 feet to properly get rid of it. It's also like they think someone else will take care of it for them, because they don't want to see it anymore. Look:
Unfortunately, my assigned spot is perfectly placed right where there's a patch of grass that can easily get trashed, so that's exactly what happens. The difference is, this isn't an accident. I don't believe that whoever's doing this lives in our building, but I do believe they live nearby, which is annoying as hell. The trash bag will be gone by the time I get home from work, but the bag isn't in the purple Portland bag, meaning it wouldn't get picked up by the trash route that day. So who's picking it up? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
This leads me to make up my own narrative (because what girl doesn’t?), but I think this person is putting it outside so they don't have to smell it in their house until they can get around to throwing it out the next morning. News flash, my dude: nobody wants to see your trash thrown in front of their car first thing in the morning. So please, whoever you are, stop putting your trash bag in front of my car. I wake up and go to work by 5 am, so your tactic of thinking nobody will see it until it's gone is actually backfiring on you!
Rant over, thank you for listening.
