Well, it finally happened. After years of News Center Maine meteorologist Keith Carson wearing clothing deemed a "smedium," the button on his smedium sport coat popped off live, during his Wednesday forecast.

Keith Carson's Career in New England

Keith joined the weather team at News Center Maine in 2010, went to the big leagues at the Weather Channel in 2013, and then returned to News Center Maine in 2016, where he has been ever since.

Viewer Mail

Viewers either love or hate the smediums, despite their love for Keith. Chief Meteorologist Todd Gutner heard from a viewer a few years back who respectfully asked Todd to give the weather team raises to buy suits that fit:

"I envision their suit coat button ejecting at sound barrier speed, exploding and flying off, seriously naming some poor soul in the newsroom. Their suit coats are so small the fabric is stretched across their midsections to the ripping point."

In all the years at News Center Maine and The Weather Channel, Keith never had a medium sport coat self-destruct live on the air.... until now.

Fire in the Hole!

While delivering the forecast on Wednesday, Keith reached across the map to point out a storm system over New Brunswick, and the button on his smedium suit coat popped right off, just as the viewer warned six years prior.

Luckily, no one was injured by the button. Keith picked it up and had a few laughs that the inevitable had finally happened. He then went on with his forecast. This man is a true professional.
