It's sad when something as grand as an old Oak Tree has to come down. This timelapse video shows one tall and vibrant oak being cut down in Deering Center in Portland in about one minute.

Portland is called the 'Forest City' because of the many oak trees that stood here for hundreds of years. Deering Woods was purchased by the city in 1879 and turned into Deering Oaks Park and today many of those oaks still stand.

There comes a time though they have to come down and these skilled arborists can change the landscape of an area in a day. It's strange to see an area with tall trees that have stood for ages suddenly look totally different when dead or dying trees are removed.

Looks like someone was left some good firewood when the job was done though.
