Last week, a video of an epic battle between two deer was circulated throughout social media as people watched in wonder. Today, another video surfaced courtesy of Wayne Wilson and the Maine Department Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, showing two more bucks going head to head (literally) as they duked it out for the affections of a nearby doe.

This is peak mating season for deer, meaning there's plenty of these confrontations going on throughout the state. As the MDIFW states, typically these buck battles are short, but often times a buck will need to do battle several times before the doe is ready to mate. Peak mating time in Maine this year is thought to be between November 17th and November 23rd.
