Commuters on Monday morning were taking a detour on Methodist Road after a water main break.

The Westbrook Police Department posted on their Facebook page just before 7 a.m. when they responded to the water main break near 1020 Methodist Road saying that the break is expected to take a significant amount of time to fix and the drivers should avoid the area.

A picture was shared with the post, although at a low resolution, that shows just how serious the break was. The water pressure running through the lines shot into the air looking like a geyser.

However, this photo shared by the Westbrook Police Department isn't actually a photo of the water main break, which had several people concerned about the severity of the situation. The photo is actually of a water main break in Charlotte, North Carolina back in October of 2021.

The actual water main break wasn't nearly as dramatic as shown by this photo of the break shared later by the Westbrook Police Department.

The photo also came with an apology:

"We profusely apologize for utilizing a "Google Image" picture in our post (That we in no way claimed was from Methodist Road) about an otherwise "boring" event intended to keep area residents and traffic informed so they can be inconvenienced as little as possible and find an alternative route to travel. We will try to do better...."

I guess now we know why the image shared was in such low resolution. Lesson learned Westbrook Police Department.
