Westbrook Police had quite a day on Tuesday, not only investigating and finding a driver involved in a hit and run but also catching a motorcyclist who was doing twice the speed limit.

In a post on the Westbrook Police Department's Facebook page, they say that they had two incidents on Westbrook's roads. One was a hit and run on William Clark Drive. The driver fled the scene toward Portland, so Westbrook PD radioed Portland Police to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

While all this was going on, a motorcyclist was zooming down Westbrook Arterial at 92 miles per hour. The speed limit on the arterial is 45, so he was only doing 47 over. No big whoop.

Well, he heard a really loud "whoop whoop" from the sirens of the Westbrook PD who were at the other end of Westbrook Arterial looking for the hit and run vehicle.

It probably comes as no surprise that the driver in the hit and run was arrested for OUI and they were able to prove he it was him when they took a piece of the car that had fallen off in the crash over to Portland and like putting the last jigsaw puzzle piece into place, it matched perfectly. He was charged not only for the OUI but for leaving the scene of an accident.

As for Mr. "I can't drive 45," 92 in a 45 is criminal speeding in Maine and he was arrested. He could be fined up to $1,000, serve up to a year on probation, have his license suspended for over 30 days, and even get up to 6 months of jail time. No matter the outcome, that was a bad day for him.

The Westbrook Police wrap this whole thing up with a word of advice to everyone to "drive safe out there, and don't end up sad and in handcuffs like this guy..."

Don't be Patrick.
