If you love watermelon, you won't want to miss this first of it's kind event!

The first-ever Camp Sunshine Watermelon Festival is coming to L.L. Bean with 1,000 watermelons on Saturday, August 12 from 11am-4pm. Presented by Whole Foods Market, attendees will experience a full schedule of family fun and watermelon-themed activities throughout the day including watermelon salsa making, a watermelon eating contest, greased watermelon relays, children’s painting activities and much more. Local bands will perform live music including Blindsided Breakaway, Fighting Fiction and OC and the Offbeats.

Organizers hope to raise $30,000 for Camp Sunshine, an award winning, free-of-charge retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families on the shores of Sebago Lake in Casco, Maine. At Camp, attendees join other families on similar journeys and experience the benefits of empathy and encouragement, recovery and recreation, and hope and inspiration.

Funds raised at the event are used explicitly for local families to attend Camp Sunshine. To support the festival and the mission, visit: www.campsunshinewatermelonfestival.org.
