As a rising college freshman, Jack Sillin has a unique passion. He's obsessed with forecasting the weather.

It's not just a hobby, either; Jack has maintained an impressive amateur meteorology website and blog since 2011. On his bio page, "Forecaster Jack" recounts the origin of his excitement over the weather and when it turned into a dedicated career, for lack of a better word.

Until now, Jack's blog has been updated daily and free to the public, but when he heads to Cornell University this fall, Jack recognizes that he won't have nearly as much time to dedicate to the blog, given, ya know, homework and all that.

On Thursday morning, he created a patreon page and asked for donations to help justify his prioritizing upkeep of his website.

"Getting up an extra half hour-hour early to forecast weather a few hundred miles away for free isn't something I'm going to be able to do," Jack wrote in his request for funding. "But if a few folks each pitch in a few bucks, and continuing to post means having enough spare change to buy my friends and I pizza on a Friday night, or put gas in the car to get to the ski mountain on a Saturday? That's a tradeoff I'd be happy to make. "

His goal? A whopping $35 - yes, $35 total - which fans blew past with a resounding nod to his passion and dedication. As of Friday afternoon, Jack's promised donations totaled $84 per month.

Needless to say, the people have spoken and they want Forecaster Jack to stick around. After all, if you can't trust the weatherman, who can you trust?
