You May Not Believe What The Top Halloween Candy Sold In Maine Is
With Halloween rapidly approaching it's time to switch gears from summertime activities to things more fall-ish. Things like breaking out the long sleeve shirts and pants, jackets and hoodies.
And it's also time to start thinking about Halloween! That's right, it's never too early to get ready for the spookiest holiday of the year. That got me thinking about candy, and what kind of candy to hand out this year. Usually I buy Kit Kats and Snickers for the Trick or Treaters but I was wondering what the top Halloween candy was in Maine. Luckily there's this thing called the Internet where you can find out pretty much anything!
Did you know this year, the National Retail Federation is estimating that shoppers will spend $2.6 billion on Halloween candy. Billion...with a B!
According to CandyStore.com the answer is..
Sour Patch Kids. Their website says Mainers bought 63,630 pounds of the sour treat last year.
2nd place belongs to the fruit candy Starburst, selling 40,409 pounds, and in 3rd is the milk chocolate candy that melts in your mouth, not in your hands. M&M's sold roughly 15,831 pounds.
I have a theory on why Sour Patch Kids candy is the top seller, because watching kids eat one is hysterical!
